Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Lymph node metastases [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2000
Although, to the authors' knowledge, no prospective randomized clinical trial has demonstrated improvement in survival following the radical dissection of lymph nodes in the treatment of cancer patients, lymphadenectomy is still routinely performed for curative purposes.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

New Metrics for Node Importance Evaluation in Occupational Injury Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Complex networks provide a convenient way to model the process of occupational injury occurrence at the system level, and node importance metrics are usually employed to quantify the influence of the factors leading to injuries.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Evaluation method for network invulnerability based on shortest route number

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2009
Fully connecting network has the best invulnerability, and also the shortest route numbers between nodes is important for network invulnerability. Therefore,by calculating shortest route numbers and comparing the topology dif-ference between target network

Research on an Algorithm of Power System Node Importance Assessment Based on Topology–Parameter Co-Analysis

open access: yesEnergies
As power grids continue to expand in scale, the occurrence of cascading failures within them can lead to significant economic losses. Therefore, assessing the criticality of grid nodes is crucial for ensuring the secure and stable operation of power ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
