Plate Fracture of Nodular Cast Iron

Key Engineering Materials, 2010
Plate fracture is a defective fracture structure in nodular cast iron that can be found especially in the transition area of feeder, feeder neck and the cast part itself. It occurs rather spontaneously due to the fact that the exact reason for it is still unknown.

Complexometric determination of magnesium in nodular cast iron and alloyed cast iron roll samples

Talanta, 1980
A complexometric method for the determination of magnesium in nodular cast iron, alloyed cast iron and roll samples has been developed. The bulk of the iron is removed by ether extraction and the phosphate as zirconium phosphate. The other elements are removed by extraction with dithiocarbamate into chloroform.

SHORT CRACK BEHAVIOUR IN NODULAR CAST IRON

Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1984
Fatigue crack growth rates have been determined on standard specimens containing long cracks (∼5–10mm) and on specimens containing two‐dimensional short cracks (∼0.10–0.50mm). Large differences have been observed indicating that at a given stress intensity factor short cracks propagate much faster than long cracks.

Deformation and failure in nodular cast iron

Acta Materialia, 2012
Abstract Ductile failure in nodular cast iron is explored through uniaxial tension and notched tension experiments. Specimens obtained through tests interrupted at various stages of deformation and failure evolution were examined through quantitative microscopy to discern the mechanisms of failure and to quantitatively evaluate the local strain ...

FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF BAINITIC NODULAR CAST IRON

Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1989
Abstract— The fracture toughness of bainitic ductile iron transformed at various austempering temperatures and austempering times was evaluated by using compact tension specimens and compared with the fracture toughness of bulleye casting structure. Using Scanning Electron Microscopy, the mechanism of the fracture mode can be understood by observing ...

Shot Peening of Nodular Cast Iron

1989
The favourable effect of shot peening on fatigue strength of steel or light alloys parts is now well known [1], [2], [3], [4]. On the other hand, the effect of this process on cast iron has been less studied.

Foundry Technique Designing of the Nodular Cast Iron Casting

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The traditional method has been used to the foundry technique for the melt block mobile plate. The pouring position, the parting face and some of the casting parameters were determined, such as the allowance for finish, stripping taper, the rate of shrinkage and soon on. The commercial casting simulation software was introduced into the casting process,

Fatigue Properties of Synthetic Nodular Cast Irons

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
The contribution deals with comparison of microstructure, mechanical properties and fatigue properties of synthetic nodular cast irons with a different ratio of steel scrap in a charge. Chemical composition of individual melts was regulated alternatively by ferrosilicon (FeSi) and carburizer or metallurgical silicon carbide (SiC).
