Noise Exposure and Cardiovascular Health
Current Problems in Cardiology, 2023Noise is considered an environmental stressor adversely affecting well-being and quality of life, inter-individual communications, and attention and cognitive function and inducing emotional responses, corresponding to noise annoyance. In addition, noise exposure is associated with nonauditory effects including worsening mental health, cognitive ...

American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1979
Occupational noise exposure was evaluated for eight fire fighter positions on board three types of emergency vehicles. One hundred seventy code-3responses were monitored and sound pressure levels in excess of 115 dBA found. Futhermore, sound pressures exceeding the OSHA allowable level of 90 dBA for eight hours exposure were determined.

Hazardous Exposure to Impulse Noise
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1968This paper presents impulse-noise damage-risk criteria based on conclusions of independent British and American studies and on the work of other research workers in this field. Most of the studies that led to this criterion were performed with noise from small arms, but the criterion is general enough to permit assessment of most other types of impulse

Noise Exposure among Construction Electricians
AIHAJ - American Industrial Hygiene Association, 2001Data-logging noise dosimetry was used to assess the exposure levels of electricians working for a major electrical subcontractor in Washington State at five sites using four types of construction methods. Subjects documented activities and work environment information throughout their work shift, resulting in an activity/exposure record for each of the

Noise exposure in convertible automobiles
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2010AbstractObjective:To quantify the noise exposure received while driving a convertible automobile with the top open, compared with the top closed. Methods:Five different convertible automobiles were driven, with the top both closed and open, and noise levels measured.

Playback Experiments for Noise Exposure
2016Playbacks are a useful tool for conducting well-controlled and replicated experiments on the effects of anthropogenic noise, particularly for repeated exposures. However, playbacks are unlikely to fully reproduce original sources of anthropogenic noise.

Myocardial activity during noise exposure
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1987The present investigation was performed to study coronary blood flow along with other indices of cardiac activity in subjects exposed to short-term noise. The study was carried out on 10 normal-hearing individuals suffering from Variant Angina of Prinzmetal. The acoustic stimuli consisted of 100 dB (A) broad-band noise, lasting 30 s.

Safe Level for Noise Exposure?
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1976The safety of long, continuous exposure to several different levels of noise was determined. Chinchillas were exposed for two or nine days to an octave band of noise with a center frequency of .5 kHz or 4 kHz. By examining the inner ear for evidence of acute cellular degeneration, exposures which produced minimal permanent damage could be identified ...
