Ear-Phone: A context-aware noise mapping using smart phones
A noise map facilitates the monitoring of environmental noise pollution in urban areas. It can raise citizen awareness of noise pollution levels, and aid in the development of mitigation strategies to cope with the adverse effects.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

The Environment (Air Quality and Soundscapes) (Wales) Act 2024
The Welsh Government’s policy on noise and soundscape is underpinned by two key pieces of legislation: the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, and the Environment (Air Quality and Soundscapes) (Wales) Act 2024.

Homogenization for deterministic maps and multiplicative noise [PDF]
A recent paper of Melbourne & Stuart (2011 A note on diffusion limits of chaotic skew product flows. Nonlinearity 24 , 1361–1367 (doi:10.1088/0951-7715/24/4/018)) gives a rigorous proof of convergence of a fast–slow deterministic system to a stochastic differential equation with additive noise.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Exploiting ground effects for surface transport noise abatement
Growing demand on transportation, road and railway networks has increased the risk of annoyance from these sources and the need to optimise noise mitigation.

Random noise in Diffusion Tensor Imaging, its Destructive Impact and Some Corrections [PDF]
The empirical origin of random noise is described, its influence on DTI variables is illustrated by a review of numerical and in vivo studies supplemented by new simulations investigating high noise levels.
