Patatin‐domain‐containing (phospho)lipases under control: Mammalian co‐regulators and pathogenic activation mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Patatin domain‐containing (phospho)lipases are lipid‐hydrolyzing enzymes central to metabolism, membrane remodeling, and signaling. Their activity relies on precise co‐activation mechanisms involving protein–protein interactions and conformational rearrangements.

Optical monitor panel provides flexible test panel configurations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Optical monitor panel projects a chosen panel configuration upon a translucent screen by using a master projector and appropriate slide to project panel board nomenclature and a series of smaller individual projectors to superimpose monitor indicators ...

Practical computational toolkits for dendrimers and dendrons structure design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dendrimers and dendrons offer an excellent platform for developing novel drug delivery systems and medicines. The rational design and further development of these repetitively branched systems are restricted by difficulties in scalable synthesis and ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Deep Learning–Assisted Differentiation of Four Peripheral Neuropathies Using Corneal Confocal Microscopy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Peripheral neuropathies contribute to patient disability but may be diagnosed late or missed altogether due to late referral, limitation of current diagnostic methods and lack of specialized testing facilities. To address this clinical gap, we developed NeuropathAI, an interpretable deep learning–based multiclass classification ...

Meningovascular Inflammation in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy‐Related Cortical Superficial Siderosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The role of inflammation in cortical superficial siderosis (cSS), a marker of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) linked to high hemorrhage risk, is unclear. We examined 15 patients with cSS using 3 T post‐contrast vessel wall MRI (VWI) and CSF analysis.

THE SPECTROSCOPY OF CRYSTAL DEFECTS - A COMPENDIUM OF DEFECT NOMENCLATURE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The authors bring together tables of current defect nomenclature and a summary of the rules actually practised (rather than idealised schemes) in choosing such labels for signals obtained with a range of spectroscopies.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Distribution-Based Categorization of Classifier Transfer Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Transfer Learning (TL) aims to transfer knowledge acquired in one problem, the source problem, onto another problem, the target problem, dispensing with the bottom-up construction of the target model.
