Nomogram Development and Feature Selection Strategy Comparison for Predicting Surgical Site Infection After Lower Extremity Fracture Surgery

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a frequent complication after lower extremity fracture surgery, yet tools for individualized risk prediction remain limited. This study aimed to develop and internally validate a nomogram for

External validation of nomograms including MRI features for the prediction of side-specific extraprostatic extension [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Prediction of side-specific extraprostatic extension (EPE) is crucial in selecting patients for nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy (RP). Multiple nomograms, which include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) information, are available predict ...

Biomarkers to predict outcomes in diabetic foot ulcers

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Studies attempting to predict the healing outcome of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) have investigated various biological materials and recovered molecules that may aid in discriminating wounds that will heal and those that will not heal. This graphical abstract captures the commonly studied classes of biomarkers in the context of DFUs.

Oxidative stress‐driven metabolic reprogramming defines two subtypes of cutaneous melanoma

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cutaneous melanoma exhibits substantial molecular heterogeneity, and metabolic reprogramming may contribute to differences in tumor behavior and treatment response. In this study, we integrated multi‐omics data from SKCM cohorts to identify two metabolism‐associated subtypes with distinct oxidative stress profiles, immune microenvironments, prognostic ...

Identification and Validation of Biomarkers in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps and Study of Their Associated Mechanisms

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cell senescence (CS) and lipid metabolism (LM) disorders have been reported in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the mechanism is still unclear. Methods Data were obtained from public databases; differential expression analysis and machine learning were performed to identify biomarkers and to understand the

Enhanced Early Detection of Allergic Rhinitis: A Prospective Study on a Symptom‐Based Predictive Model

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Allergic rhinitis (AR) and non‐allergic rhinitis (NAR) share overlapping symptoms but differ in pathophysiology and treatment. Current AR diagnosis relies on skin prick testing (SPT) and serum IgE quantification, both of which are complex.

Prediction Models for Sentinel Lymph Node Metastasis in Clinically Node‐Negative Breast Cancer: Validation of Existing Nomograms, Model Development, and Ensemble Evaluation

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Prediction models using routine clinicopathological variables can identify patients with a very low risk of sentinel lymph node macrometastasis. Ensemble modeling modestly improves classification and increases the proportion of patients eligible for safe, risk‐adapted axillary de‐escalation.

Recurrence Patterns and Prognostic Factors in Sentinel Lymph Node‐Negative Melanoma in a Taiwanese Cohort With Predominant Acral Melanoma

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cutaneous melanoma in Asian populations is characterized by a predominance of acral melanoma and distinct clinicopathologic features. Although sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is widely used for staging, a subset of SLN‐negative patients still develop recurrence, and evidence regarding recurrence patterns and prognostic factors in this group ...
