A Generalized Additive Model Combining Principal Component Analysis for PM2.5 Concentration Estimation

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
As an extension of the traditional Land Use Regression (LUR) modelling, the generalized additive model (GAM) was developed in recent years to explore the non-linear relationships between PM2.5 concentrations and the factors impacting it.

The least core, kernel, and bargaining sets of large games [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We study the least core, the kernel, and bargaining sets of coalitional games with a countable set of players. We show that the least core of a continuous superadditive game with a countable set of players is a non-empty (norm-compact) subset of the ...

Geometric multipartite entanglement measures

open access: yes, 2009
Within the framework of constructions for quantifying entanglement, we build a natural scenario for the assembly of multipartite entanglement measures based on Hopf bundle-like mappings obtained through Clifford algebra representations.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Magic transition in measurement-only circuits

open access: yesnpj Quantum Information
Magic, or nonstabilizerness, quantifies the distance of a quantum state from stabilizer states and serves as a resource for quantum computational advantage.

Some Fubini theorems on product sigma-algebras for non-additive measures [PDF]

open access: yes
We give some Fubini's theorems (interversion of the order of integration and product capacities) in the framework of the Choquet integral for product sigma-algebras. Following Ghirardato this is performed by considering slice-comonotonic functions.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Effects of a multicomponent physical activity promoting program on sedentary behavior, physical activity and body measures: a longitudinal study in different office types

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2019
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate effects of a multicomponent program promoting physical activity on sedentary behavior, physical activity, and body measures, when relocating from cell offices to either a flex or cell office.

Methodology of measuring performance in alternative investment [PDF]

open access: yes
The development of alternative investment has highlighted the limitations of standard performance measures like the Sharpe ratio, primarily because alternative strategies yield returns distributions which can be far from gaussian.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...
