Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Version of Lebesgue Decomposition Theorem for Non-additive Measure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, Lebesgue decomposition type theorems for non-additive measure are shown under the conditions of null-additivity, converse null-additivity, weak null-additivity and i¾?-null-additivity, etc.. In our discussion, the monotone continuity of set function is not required.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Generalized Additive Model Combining Principal Component Analysis for PM2.5 Concentration Estimation

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
As an extension of the traditional Land Use Regression (LUR) modelling, the generalized additive model (GAM) was developed in recent years to explore the non-linear relationships between PM2.5 concentrations and the factors impacting it.

An Optimization-Based Classification Approach with the Non-additive Measure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Optimization-based classification approaches have well been used for decision making problems, such as classification in data mining. It considers that the contributions from all the attributes for the classification model equals to the joint individual contribution from each attribute.

Concentration Inequalities for Functions of Gibbs Fields with Application to Diffraction and Random Gibbs Measures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We derive useful general concentration inequalities for functions of Gibbs fields in the uniqueness regime. We also consider expectations of random Gibbs measures that depend on an additional disorder field, and prove concentration w.r.t.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Effects of a multicomponent physical activity promoting program on sedentary behavior, physical activity and body measures: a longitudinal study in different office types

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, 2019
OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate effects of a multicomponent program promoting physical activity on sedentary behavior, physical activity, and body measures, when relocating from cell offices to either a flex or cell office.

Dependence Measure for non-additive model

open access: yes, 2013
We proposed a new statistical dependency measure called Copula Dependency Coefficient(CDC) for two sets of variables based on copula. It is robust to outliers, easy to implement, powerful and appropriate to high-dimensional variables. These properties are important in many applications.

Shackle versus Savage: non-probabilistic alternatives to subjective probability theory in the 1950s [PDF]

open access: yes
G.L.S Shackle’s rejection of the probability tradition stemming from Knight's definition of uncertainty was a crucial episode in the development of modern decision theory.
