A moving lemma for algebraic cycles with modulus and contravariance

open access: yes, 2018
We prove a moving lemma which implies the contravariance of Bloch-Esnault's additive higher Chow group in smooth affine varieties and Binda-Saito's higher Chow group (taken in the Nisnevich topology) in smooth varieties equipped with effective Cartier ...

Physical Origin of Temperature Induced Activation Energy Switching in Electrically Conductive Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The temperature‐induced Arrhenius activation energy switching phenomenon of electrical conduction in electrically conductive cement originates from structural degradation within the biphasic ionic‐electronic conduction architecture and shows percolation‐governed characteristics: pore network opening dominates the low‐percolation regime with downward ...

Limits and Singularities of Normal Functions

open access: yes, 2018
We construct a collection of higher Chow cycles on certain surfaces which degenerate to an arrangement of planes in general position. When its degree is 4, this construction gives a new explicit proof of the Hodge-D-Conjecture for a certain type of K3 ...

Selective Targeting of Immune Checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 Using Novel Dual Signaling Protein DSP216 Promotes Innate Anticancer Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The inhibitory immune checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 are expressed on certain tumor types and inhibit immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. DSP216 binds specifically to cancer cells expressing both HLA‐G and CD47, and blocks their inhibitory signaling.

Explicit limit cycles of a family of polynomial differential systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
We consider the family of polynomial differential systems $$\displaylines{ x' = x+( \alpha y-\beta x) (ax^2-bxy+ay^2) ^{n}, \cr y' = y-( \beta y+\alpha x) (ax^2-bxy+ay^2) ^{n}, }$$ where a, b, $\alpha $, $\beta $ are real constants and n is ...

Constant payoff in zero-sum stochastic games

open access: yes, 2018
In a zero-sum stochastic game, at each stage, two adversary players take decisions and receive a stage payoff determined by them and by a random variable representing the state of nature.

Mechanoadaptation via Myosin Cytoplasmic Redistribution Protects Circulating Tumor Cells From Shear‐induced Death During Hematogenous Dissemination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how CTCs survive varying shear stress during hematogenous metastasis. We uncover a self‐protection mechanism, by which non‐adherent CTCs adapt to high shearing milieu through accumulated cytoplasmic myosin‐mediated disruption of myosin‐actin binding, attenuating force transmission into chromatin to protect CTCs from shear ...

Distinct Biotypes of Visual Perception in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a discover dataset (272 acute MDD patients), this work identifies a novel depression biotype characterized by impaired visual motion perception, using machine learning clustering. An independent dataset confirms the robustness of this biotype through cross‐validation and demonstrates its generalizability.

SPICE‐Compatible Compact Modeling of Cuprate‐Based Memristors Across a Wide Temperature Range

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A physics‐guided compact model for YBCO memristors is introduced, incorporating carrier trapping, field‐induced detrapping, and a differential balance equation to describe their switching dynamics. The model is compared with experiments and implemented in LTspice, allowing realistic circuit‐level simulations.

AI in chemical engineering: From promise to practice

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) in chemical engineering has moved from promise to practice: physics‐aware (gray‐box) models are gaining traction, reinforcement learning complements model predictive control (MPC), and generative AI powers documentation, digitization, and safety workflows.
