We began to explore the technique of laparoscopic hepatectomy by curettage and aspiration (LHCA) in August 1998. For the purpose of safe dissection of the liver parenchyma, the laparoscopic Peng’s multifunctional operative dissector (LPMOD) (Cai et al. 2006) was designed.
