Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Anatomic vs. non-anatomic liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma: standard of care or unfilled promises?

open access: yes, 2021
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death not only in the United States but in the world. One of the curative treatment options for early-stage HCC is surgical resection, which can be divided into two approaches:

Non-anatomic tunnel position increases the risk of revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

open access: yes, 2022
Purpose Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) graft failure is a complication that may require revision ACL reconstruction (ACL-R). Non-anatomic placement of the femoral tunnel is thought to be a frequent cause of graft failure; however, there is a lack of ...

Weave Technique for Reconstruction of Medial Collateral Ligament and Posterior Oblique Ligament: An Anatomic Approach Using Semitendinosus Tendon

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2019
Medial collateral ligament (MCL) is the most commonly injured ligament in knee. The majority of MCL tears can be managed conservatively, and reconstruction or augmentation is required in few selected cases.

Clustering Algorithm Reveals Dopamine‐Motor Mismatch in Cognitively Preserved Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between dopaminergic denervation and motor impairment in two de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) cohorts. Methods n = 249 PD patients from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) and n = 84 from an external clinical cohort.

Diagnosis and Management of Anomalous Coronary Arteries with a Malignant Course

open access: yesInterventional Cardiology: Reviews, Research, Resources, 2019
Although the prevalence of anomalous coronary artery from the opposite sinus (ACAOS) in the general population is low, more frequent use of invasive and non-invasive imaging to rule out coronary artery disease has seen an increase in absolute numbers of ...

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.
