Cell surface CD11c as a neutrophil aging marker molecule

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cell surface CD11chi neutrophils were more aged and had better phagocytic function than CD11c−/lo neutrophils. Transcriptomic analysis of CD11chi neutrophils and CD11c−/lo neutrophils in pediatric population showed that the most difference was seen in infants.

Open strings and heterotic instantons

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Motivated by closed string perturbation theory arguments by S. Shenker, we consider non-perturbative effects of characteristic strength O(e−1/gs), with gs the closed string coupling constant, in supersymmetric critical heterotic string theories. We argue

Black hole formation and classicalization in ultra-Planckian 2→N scattering

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
We establish a connection between the ultra-Planckian scattering amplitudes in field and string theory and unitarization by black hole formation in these scattering processes.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Over Plasma Links Analytes to Cognitive Decline in Older Adults at Risk for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To identify inflammatory analytes in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma associated with cognitive decline in cognitively normal (CN) older adults at risk for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Methods In a longitudinal study of 118 CN older adults (65–80 years, 54% APOE ε4, 26% preclinical AD), 1331 CSF and 1501 plasma analytes were ...

Conformal field theories on random surfaces and the non-critical string [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Recently, it has become increasingly clear that boundaries play a significant role in the understanding of the non-perturbative phase of the dynamics of strings.

What IIB looks IIA string: string cobordisms via non-compact CFTs

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The Swampland Cobordism Conjecture predicts the existence of end-of-the-world branes for every consistent Quantum Gravity theory, and domain walls connecting the Landscape. A perturbative string worldsheet description of these objects is only expected to

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Quantizing the rotating string with massive endpoints

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We compute leading order quantum corrections to the Regge trajectory of a rotating string with massive endpoints using semiclassical methods. We expand the bosonic string action around a classical rotating solution to quadratic order in the fluctuations ...

NONCRITICAL STRING LIOUVILLE THEORY AND GEOMETRIC BOOTSTRAP HYPOTHESIS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2004
The applications of the existing Liouville theories for the description of the longitudinal dynamics of noncritical Nambu–Goto string are analyzed. We show that the recently developed DOZZ solution to the Liouville theory leads to the cut singularities in tree string amplitudes.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.
