Testing the Bounds: Empirical Behavior of Target Zone Fundamentals [PDF]
Standard target zone exchange rate models are based on nonlinear functions of an unobserved economic fundamental, which is assumed to be bounded, similarly to the target zone exchange rates themselves.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

A Non-parametric reassessment of target zone nonlinearities: The Spanish Peseta/Deutsche Mark exchange rate [PDF]
In this paper we present evidence concerning the existence of target zone nonlinearities in the Spanish Peseta/Deutsche Mark exchange rate using data with daily frequency for the period 1989-1996.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Real-time detection of the business cycle using SETAR models [PDF]
We consider a threshold time series model in order to take into account some stylized facts of the business cycle such as asymmetries in the phases.

KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...
