AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Analyzing Grip Strength Disparities Between Dominant and Non-Dominant Hands: Influence of Sex and Age in the Polish Population

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Handgrip strength (HGS) is a key indicator of muscular fitness and physical health. Recently, attention has focused on HGS asymmetry as a potential marker of functional impairment.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Coherent phenomena in semiconductors

open access: yes, 1997
A review of coherent phenomena in photoexcited semiconductors is presented. In particular, two classes of phenomena are considered: On the one hand the role played by optically-induced phase coherence in the ultrafast spectroscopy of semiconductors; On ...

Evaluation of Dominant and Non-Dominant Hand Movements For Volleyball Action Modelling [PDF]

open access: yesAdjunct of the 2019 International Conference on Multimodal Interaction, 2019
In this paper, we assess the use of Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) in recognising different volleyball-specific actions. Analysis of the results suggests that all sensors in the IMU (i.e. magnetometer, accelerometer, barometer and gyroscope) contribute unique information in the classification of volleyball-specific actions.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
