Generalized Bose-Einstein condensation into multiple states in driven-dissipative systems
Bose-Einstein condensation, the macroscopic occupation of a single quantum state, appears in equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics and persists also in the hydrodynamic regime close to equilibrium. Here we show that even when a degenerate Bose gas is

Are non-equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensates superfluid?
We theoretically study the superfluidity properties of a non-equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensate of exciton-polaritons in a semiconductor microcavity. The dynamics of the condensate is described at mean-field level in terms of a modified Complex Ginzburg Landau equation.

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Non-equilibrium phenomena and related damages have always been one of the great concerns among researchers, designers, and industry managers. In power plants, the overhaul of turbines during a pre-planned schedule includes checking, repairing, and ...

Non-equilibrium condensation and coarsening of field-driven dipolar colloids
In colloidal suspensions, self-organization processes can be easily fueled by external fields. One particularly interesting class of phenomena occurs in monolayers of dipolar particles that are driven by rotating external fields.

Sol–Gel Derived Polymer Precursors for Stereolithography of ZrC
ZrC is a critical material target for extreme temperature conditions. This report describes a protocol for preparing ZrC ceramics via stereolithography and examines the impact of the polymer matrix on carbothermal reduction and mechanical stability of 3D printed ZrC.

Turbulent meson condensation in quark deconfinement
In a QCD-like strongly coupled gauge theory at large Nc, using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we find that heavy quark deconfinement is accompanied by a coherent condensation of higher meson resonances.

Observation of bright polariton solitons in a semiconductor microcavity [PDF]
Microcavity polaritons are composite half-light half-matter quasi-particles, which have recently been demonstrated to exhibit rich physical properties, such as non-equilibrium Bose-Einstein condensation, parametric scattering and superfluidity.

Non-equilibrium dynamics of Bose Einstein condensates [PDF]
This thesis examines two aspects of the non-equilibrium dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs). Our particular interests are the relaxation of near-integrable systems, and the inter-particle correlations present in BECs, both in equilibrium and following an abrupt change in the Hamiltonian.
