Association between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and mortality among hypertension patients

open access: yesScientific Reports
The non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) reflects the balance between pro- and anti-atherogenic lipoproteins.

Lactoferrin Deficiency During Lactation Causes Adult Obesity‐Related Metabolic Disease Through Persistent Adipose Dysfunction Driven by Impaired Adipocyte Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactational lactoferrin deficiency exerts lasting effects on epididymal adipose tissue development from lactation into adulthood: it impairs adipocyte hyperplasia and induces pathological hypertrophy, resulting in lower body weight yet exacerbated metabolic dysfunction under a high‐fat diet in adulthood.

A Microgel Platform Enables Site‐Specific Intestinal Delivery of Lactoferrin, Improving its Bioavailability for Targeted Alleviating Liver Injury and Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work first time reports an eco‐friendly desert plant food‐based polysaccharide ASKP microgels which have intestinal site‐specific release properties which can achieve small‐intestine or colon targeting capability via different cross‐linking chemistry.

CORRELATION OF NON-HIGH-DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN CHOLESTEROL WITH LIPOPROTEIN(A) IN DIABETIC PATIENTS

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research, 2018
Objective: The objective of this study is to estimate the level of lipoprotein(a) and lipid profile, especially non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) in diabetic patients, and to correlate the same with healthy controls (non-diabetics).Methods: A total of 30 non-diabetic subjects and 30 diabetic patients were included in the study ...

Targeting ANGPTL3 and IL‐33/ST2 Ameliorates Diabetic Kidney Disease by Reducing Lipotoxicity, Alleviating Inflammation and Inhibiting Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of ANGPTL3 and IL‐33/ST2 attenuates diabetic kidney disease by reprogramming lipid–inflammatory crosstalk. This strategy reduces renal lipotoxicity, suppresses inflammatory activation, and limits fibrotic remodeling, thereby preserving kidney structure and function and highlighting a mechanism‐guided therapeutic approach for metabolic ...

Pathological Mechanism‐Inspired Biomimetic Nano‐Senotherapy for Reversing Experimental Atherosclerosis in ApoE−/− Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The biomimetic self‐assembly nanomedicine reversing atherosclerosis via senotherapy strategy. ABSTRACT The greatest challenge in atherosclerosis (AS) management lies in achieving lesion reversal, not merely slowing progression. Senescent cell accumulation—driven by continuous generation and apoptotic resistance—perpetuates plaque pathology and ...

SuFEx‐Enabled Reprogramming of Flavonoids for Selective α‐Glucosidase Covalent Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective inhibition of intestinal α‐glucosidase remains limited by poor enzyme specificity and off‐target metabolic effects. Here, SuFEx click chemistry is used to reprogram natural flavonoids into covalent inhibitors with enhanced α‐glucosidase selectivity and controlled reactivity. This strategy enables effective regulation of carbohydrate digestion

Non‐High‐Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol: An Alternate Target for Lipid‐Lowering Therapy [PDF]

open access: yesPreventive Cardiology, 2004
Non‐high‐density lipoprotein (non‐HDL) cholesterol level is determined by subtracting the high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol level from the total cholesterol level and thus encompasses not only low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol, but also the cholesterol contained in atherogenic, triglyceride‐rich particles like remnants.

Latest Indian Guidelines for Dyslipidemia Management: A Biochemist’s Perspective [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Biochemistry
The recent lipid management guidelines emphasize using low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C), and apo B levels as treatment targets.

Cholesterol Laundry of Cell Membrane and Fatty Liver by Detergent Liposomes to Improve Anti‐Cancer Drug Responsiveness of Patient Liver Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.
