We used GPS video camera collar data from barren‐ground caribou in the Porcupine and Western Arctic herds to validate antler‐ and movement‐based methods for estimating annual reproductive metrics. Antler retention was highly accurate for estimating parturition, but the movement methods we tested performed marginally for estimating parturition and ...

Caribou forage lichens were present in post‐burn lodgepole pine stands multiple decades before stem‐density was likely open enough to attract wintering caribou. We posit that the prolonged self‐thinning of lodgepole pine after fire may be a greater limiting factor than lichen abundance for habitat recovery in lodgepole pine forests.

The Swedish Arctic Fox Project: 40 years of research in ecology and conservation
The 4 central research themes in The Swedish Arctic Fox Project and key deliverables for practical conservation achieved over 4 decades. Abstract The scientific community widely recognizes the value of long‐term studies, especially those with individual‐level resolution; however, maintaining a consecutive data series is associated with multiple ...

White light reduces flight height of birds in low‐density migration corridor
We conducted an experiment to better understand the effects of artificial light at night treatments of varying spectral power distributions on in‐flight migratory bird behavior as measured by a portable radar. Broad‐spectrum white light emissions reduced avian flight height as compared to dark periods and more than other light treatments.
