Two new endemic species of Portulaca (Portulacaceae) from the Brazilian Pampa grasslands
Portulaca L. is a monophyletic, cosmopolitan genus of succulent plants comprising ca 153 species, with particularly high diversity in xerophytic ecosystems in tropical and subtropical regions. Based on morphological evidence, we describe and illustrate two new species from the Brazilian Pampa, Portulaca guaritensis and Portulaca guenoa.

Intrinsic value and its commitments: a response to the Conguillío Statement
The Conguillío Statement asserts that ecosystems possess intrinsic value and presents this claim as part of the normative responsibilities of ecologists. Although such language is common in ecology, it is rarely accompanied by a sustained philosophical defense. This paper clarifies what would be required for the claim to succeed.

Abstract Wild meat and freshwater fish are widely consumed in the Congo Basin, but in some areas, they are at risk of disappearing due to unsustainable hunting and fishing and changes in their habitat. Wild meat is also at risk of being eliminated from local diets due to potential policy changes such as wild meat bans.

Abstract Game meat contributes to human nutrition, food security and sociocultural practices around the world. Game meat also comes with risks, including overharvesting and zoonotic and food‐borne disease. These may be pronounced where game meat travels along complex value chains from rural to urban areas.
