Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds to Engineer the Dormant Landscape of Microscopic Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized liver extracellular matrix scaffolds provide a platform to study dormant liver‐metastatic colorectal cancer. They induce reversible dormancy, in combination with nutrient depletion and low dose chemotherapy, through cell cycle arrest and chemotherapy resistance.

Opportunities for guided multichannel non-invasive transcranial current stimulation in post-stroke rehabilitation

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2016
Stroke is a leading cause of serious long-term disability worldwide. Functional outcome depends on stroke location, severity and early intervention. Conventional rehabilitation strategies have limited effectiveness, and new treatments still fail to keep ...

Miniaturized Wireless tDCS With Concentric Electrodes for Targeted Cortical Stimulation in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a wireless and miniaturized concentric‐electrode tDCS (CE‐tDCS) system tailored for freely moving mice. The device enables focal and multi‐site cortical stimulation via a lightweight, Bluetooth‐controlled platform. By integrating local neuromodulation with real‐time behavioral analysis, the system provides a robust tool for ...

Non-invasive Brain Stimulation in Neurology and Psychiatry

open access: yes, 2017
Brain stimulation techniques, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS), modify brain function through interaction with multiple neurotransmitters and networks. The implementation of these non-invasive stimulation techniques in physiology, behavioral studies, with modelling or functional imaging has ...

3D‐Printed Multidimensional Bionic Mg‐MC/PLGA Composite for Tailored Repair of Segmental Long Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops 3D‐printed Mg‐MC/PLGA scaffolds with varying Mg concentrations (0–20%). The 5% Mg scaffold shows optimal cytocompatibility, osteogenic activity in vitro, and significantly enhances bone regeneration in rabbits, improving bone volume and mechanical strength.
