Linear and Non-Linear Regression Models Assuming a Stable Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we present some computational aspects for a Bayesiananalysis involving stable distributions. It is well known that, in general, there is no closed form for the probability density function of a stable distribution.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Point and Interval Forecasting of Spot\ud Electricity Prices: Linear vs. Non-Linear Time\ud Series Models

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we assess the short-term forecasting power of different time series models in the electricity spot market. In particular we calibrate AR/ARX ("X" stands for exogenous/fundamental variable—system load in our study), AR/ARX-GARCH, TAR/TARX ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Assessing non-linear models for galaxy clustering I: unbiased growth forecasts from multipole expansion

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics, 2019
We assess the performance of the Taruya, Nishimichi and Saito (TNS) model for the halo redshift space power spectrum, focusing on utilising mildly non-linear scales to constrain the growth rate of structure f.

Cross-temporal universality of non-linear dependencies in Asian stock markets [PDF]

open access: yes
This study utilizes the Hinich portmanteau bicorrelation test in conjunction with the windowed testing procedure to examine the cross-temporal universality of non-linear dependencies in the returns series for Asian stock market indices.

Practical identification of NARMAX models using radial basis functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
A wide class of discrete time non-linear systems can be represented by the non-linear autoregressive moving average model with exogenous inputs or NARMAX model. This paper develops a practical algorithm for identifying NARMAX models based on radial basis

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Comparative Study of Non‐Linear Car Following Models in Real‐Driving Scenarios

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems
Car following models (CFMs) are the most prominent microscopic traffic flow models that capture the follower behaviour through detailed representation of leader–follower interactions.
