Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Pneumoconiosis in non-mining industries on the Witwatersrand.
Two hundred and eighty-seven patients referred to the National Research Institute for Occupational Diseases with suspected pneumoconiosis are recorded. The patients are classified according to the type of dust to which they were exposed, and by occupation or industry.

Asbestos in the non-mining industry on the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
For many decades, and until fairly recently, asbestos was commonly found in most sectors of South African industry. Consequently there is a large but indeterminate pool of formerly exposed workers, some of whom will present to medical practitioners for evaluation of possible asbestosis, the pneumoconiosis caused by the fibre.

Compensation for occupational lung disease in non-mining industry.
The course from claim submission (by the National Centre for Occupational health (NCOH)) to compensation (by the Workmen's Compensation Commissioner (WCC)) in 56 cases of occupational disease (OD) was traced. Success rates were determined and the procedural factors which affect claim outcomes isolated.
