Gastrointestinal Intolerance and Bleeding with Non-Narcotic Analgesics
Drugs, 1986Aspirin and paracetamol (acetaminophen) are the most commonly used minor analgesics, but their effects on the gastrointestinal tract differ widely. The effects of other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including phenylbutazone, are intermediate.

Non-Narcotics and Co-Analgesics
1984Aspirin and other non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol are the most important of the non-narcotic analgesics. As simple analgesics they have equal potency but paracetamol is generally better tolerated, particularly with regard to gastrointestinal side-effects1.

Floctafenine, a new non-narcotic analgesic.
Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 1975Floctafenine has been studied in comparison with acetyl-salicylic acid, indomethacin and d-propoxyphene in a series of tests for analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. It is very active in the acetic acid-induced writhing test and on the inflamed paw in the Randall and Selitto test. Furthermore, like acetylsalicylic acid and indomethacin, but unlike

[Mode of action of non-narcotic analgesics].
Revue du rhumatisme et des maladies osteo-articulaires, 1992According to Lim's experiments, non-narcotic analgesics are usually considered as "peripherally" acting drugs. Conversely, most of these compounds were shown to easily cross the blood-brain barrier, and hence partly produce their effects by a central mechanism. The relative contribution of each site of action may vary from one drug to another.

Non-narcotic robotic radical prostatectomy
Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 2004Abstract Introduction: Open radical prostatectomy has traditionally been associated with significant bleeding requiring blood transfusion. The patients often have pain requiring nacotics. Recovery is usually over 4 weeks. Using the davinci robot and the on-q pain management system we are now able to perform prostatectomy without significant blood ...

The toxicology of non-narcotic analgesics.
Agents and actions. Supplements, 1986The fact that aminopyrine is readily nitrosated and that the nitrosation product, dimethylnitrosamine, is potentially carcinogenic has led to the drug being withdrawn from therapeutic use. In the case of the other analgesics, nitrosation is not of any importance, neither in toxicological nor quantitative terms.

Impact of non-narcotic oral analgesics on pain management
The American Journal of Medicine, 1988Of the four categories of oral analgesics, three have been available since the 19th century. Although adequate doses of the more potent oral opioids such as morphine and methadone are effective even in severe pain, the commonly used "weak" narcotics such as codeine and propoxyphene are no more effective than usual doses of aspirin or acetaminophen ...
