Retransformation bias in the adjacent art price index [PDF]

open access: yes
The literature on hedonic price indices, such as the adjacent art price index, often uses a logarithmic transformation of the price data to deal with the non-normality.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A Comparison of Logistic Regression Models for DIF Detection in Polytomous Items: The Effect of Small Sample Sizes and Non-Normality of Ability Distributions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Assessment Tools in Education, 2015
This study investigated the effectiveness of logistic regression models to detect uniform and non-uniform DIF in polytomous items across small sample sizes and non-normality of ability distributions.

PARAMETRIC MODELING AND SIMULATION OF JOINT PRICE-PRODUCTION DISTRIBUTIONS UNDER NON-NORMALITY, AUTOCORRELATION AND HETEROSCEDASTICITY: A TOOL FOR ASSESSING RISK IN AGRICULTURE [PDF]

open access: yes
This study presents a way to parametrically model and simulate multivariate distributions under potential non-normality, autocorrelation and heteroscedasticity and illustrates its application to agricultural risk analysis.

Gross Non-Normality and the Quality of a Simple Approximation to the P-Value of a Routine Test of Non-Nested Regressions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The distribution of certain test statistics for non-nested regressions can be so grossly non-normal that p-values computed on the assumption of approximate normality cannot be safely used for routine inference.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Purchasing Power Parity and the Chinese Yuan [PDF]

open access: yes
Results from unit root tests applied to the bilateral China - US real exchange rate do not support purchasing power parity between the two countries. However, tests of the real equivalent exchange rate for the Chinese yuan versus a traded-weighted basket

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
