A non-parametric investigation of risk premia [PDF]
This paper investigates features of credit risk using non-parametric techniques, studying determinants of risk premia using a non-parametric term-structure model of the corporate spread. The model, which measures the extra return of defaultable corporate

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Non-Parametric Tolerance Limits
In this note are presented graphs of minimum probable population coverage by sample blocks determined by the order statistics of a sample from a population with a continuous but unknown cumulative distribution function (c.d.f.). The graphs are constructed for the three tolerance levels .90, .95, and .99.

Non-parametric contextual stochastic search [PDF]
Stochastic search algorithms are black-box optimizer of an objective function. They have recently gained a lot of attention in operations research, machine learning and policy search of robot motor skills due to their ease of use and their generality ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Non-manifold boundary representation with parametric geometric elements [PDF]
: "This paper describes a development of non-manifold boundary representation with parametric surfaces for solid modeling. We introduce a geometric modeler currently restricted to linear geometric elements, and discuss an investigation to extend its ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Fast Non-parametric Action Recognition [PDF]
In this work we propose a method for action recognition which needs no intensive learning stage, and achieves state-of-the-art classification performance. Our work is based on a method presented in the context of image classification. Unlike that method, our approach is well-suited for working with large real-world problems, thanks to an efficient ...

Modelling the length of time spent in an unemployment state in South Africa
The deteriorating global economic conditions have worsened the unemployment situation, especially among the youth in sub-Saharan Africa. Structural factors such as the length of time spent in unemployment and job sustainability have a considerable effect
