ABSTRACT Introduction Patients with ovarian cancer often present with massive ascites, leading to significant protein loss during surgical procedures. Although cell‐free concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is used in palliative settings to mitigate protein loss, its application in intraoperative settings remains unexplored.

ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Quantile mapping for improving precipitation extremes from regional climate models
The potential of quantile mapping (QM) as a tool for bias correction of precipitation extremes simulated by regional climate models (RCMs) is investigated in this study.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Exploratory and Inferential Analysis of Benchmark Experiments [PDF]
Benchmark experiments produce data in a very specific format. The observations are drawn from the performance distributions of the candidate algorithms on resampled data sets.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Parametric and non-parametric methods for the evaluation of winter rye genotypes by grain yield stability [PDF]
The analysis of yield stability has become increasingly relevant in recent years due to changing climatic conditions that negatively affect crop yields. It is of utmost importance for farmers to cultivate widely adaptable and yield-stable varieties with ...

Kernel Identification of Non-Linear Systems with General Structure
In the paper we deal with the problem of non-linear dynamic system identification in the presence of random noise. The class of considered systems is relatively general, in the sense that it is not limited to block-oriented structures such as Hammerstein

Measuring inequality: application of semi-parametric methods to real life data
A number of methods have been introduced in order to measure the inequality in various situations such as income and expenditure. In order to curry out statistical inference, one often needs to estimate the available measures of inequality.
