The Relative Efficiency of Active Labour Market Policies: Evidence from a Social Experiment and Non-Parametric Methods

open access: yesSocial Science Research Network, 2011
We reanalyze the effects of a Danish active labour market program social experiment, that included a range of sub-treatments, including monitoring, job search assistance and training.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Estimating Position of Mobile Terminals with Survey Data

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2002
Estimating the position of mobile terminals is an important problem for cellular networks. This paper describes low cost methods of locating mobile terminals in urban environments.

Trend Analysis and Change Points in Time Series of Water Level of Shallow and Deep Wells in Gorganrood Watershed [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2023
A quantitative study of groundwater resources and accurate monitoring of changes over time, especially in areas facing limited water resources, is considered essential for proper management and sustainable exploitation of these resources.

Hybrid model using logit and nonparametric methods for predicting micro-entity failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Following the calls from literature on bankruptcy, a parsimonious hybrid bankruptcy model is developed in this paper by combining parametric and non-parametric approaches. To this end, the variables with the highest predictive power to detect bankruptcy

To be or not to be intrusive? The solution of parametric and stochastic equations - the "plain vanilla" Galerkin case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In parametric equations - stochastic equations are a special case - one may want to approximate the solution such that it is easy to evaluate its dependence of the parameters.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Assessment of yield stability in sugarcane genotypes using non-parametric methods

open access: yesAgronomía Colombiana, 2015
The evaluation of performance stability and high yields is essential for yield trials in different environments. This study was carried out to identifysugarcane genotypesthat have both a high mean cane yield, mesured in tons of cane per hectare (TCH ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
