The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Painful differences between different pain scale assessments: The outcome of assessed pain is a matter of the choices of scale and statistics

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Pain
Perceived pain is a multi-factorial subjective variable, commonly measured by numeric rating scales, verbal descriptive scales (VDS), or by a position on an analogue line (VAS). A major question is whether an individual’s VAS and VDS pain assessments, on

A Novel Statistical Test for Life Distribution Analysis: Assessing Exponentiality Against EBUCL Class with Applications in Sustainability and Reliability Data

open access: yesAxioms
A product’s lifespan may be ascertained by analyzing the dependability and aging class of its life distribution. Sustainability metrics are also crucial for assessing the impact on the environment and creating resource-saving strategies.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

A Non-Parametric Approach for the Activation Detection of Block Design fMRI Simulated Data Using Self-Organizing Maps and Support Vector Machine

open access: yesJournal of Medical Signals and Sensors, 2017
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a popular method to probe the functional organization of the brain using hemodynamic responses. In this method, volume images of the entire brain are obtained with a very good spatial resolution and low ...

Non-parametric methods for circular-circular and circular-linear [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a non-parametric approach for the estimation of the bivariate distribution of two circular variables and the modelling of the joint distribution of a circular and a linear variable.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Investigation of the Soil Depths Temperature Trend Using Parametric and Non-Parametric Methods (Shahrud Station)

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2019
The effects of climate change can be released from the surface to the soil depth, thereby affecting soil thermal regime. Thermal energy in the soil plays a very important role in causing climate changes. In this study, for the assessment and detection of
