Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Non-parametric production analysis under alternative price conditions. [PDF]

open access: yes
The literature on non-parametric production analysis has formulated tests for profit maximizing behavior that do not require a parametric specification of technology.

DWT based non-parametric texture modeling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings 2001 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.01CH37205), 2002
We propose a non-parametric texture modeling and synthesis technique based on the integer version of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT). The successive levels of the DWT pyramid of the input texture are progressively sampled starting from the signal approximation to generate the analogous wavelet pyramid for the synthetic texture.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Non-parametric estimation of forecast distributions in non-linear, non-gaussian state space models

open access: yes, 2017
Non-Gaussian time series variables are prevalent in the economic and finance spheres, with state space models often employed to analyze such variables and, ultimately, to produce forecasts.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Semi-parametric models for response times and response accuracy in computerized testing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In computer-administered tests, response times can be recorded conjointly with the corresponding responses. This broadens the scope of potential modeling approaches because response times can be analyzed in addition to analyzing the responses themselves.

Non-parametric models in the monitoring of engine performance and condition: Part 1: modelling of non-linear engine processes

open access: yes, 1999
This paper proposes the use of radial basis function (RBF) networks in the modelling of non-linear engine processes. A pertinent application of such a model is the reconstruction of cylinder pressure based upon the instantaneous angular velocity of the ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
