Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

icenReg: Regression Models for Interval Censored Data in R

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2017
The non-parametric maximum likelihood estimator and semi-parametric regression models are fundamental estimators for interval censored data, along with standard fullyparametric regression models.

Methods of competing risks flexible parametric modeling for estimation of the risk of the first disease among HIV infected men

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2020
Background Patients infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) are susceptible to many diseases. In these patients, the occurrence of one disease alters the chance of contracting another.

Semi-Parametric Hedonic Models, and Empirical Comparison [PDF]

open access: yes
Hedonic models have been widely used in the literature for valuation of non- market goods such as air quality. While the inclusion of air quality variables in hedonic models is common in applied work, there is not theoretical basis for defining the ...

A hierarchical approach to 3D non-parametric surface relief completion

open access: yes, 2012
Typical stereo and laser scan based 3D acquisition approaches are essentially limited to 2.5D capture. The resulting 3D completion problem, to derive missing information in 2.5D scenes from limited contextual information, has received increasing ...

M[pi]log, Macromodeling via parametric identification of logic gates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper addresses the development of computational models of digital integrated circuit input and output buffers via the identification of nonlinear parametric models. The obtained models run in standard circuit simulation environments, offer improved

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

On parametric solution of fault detection problems

open access: yes, 2011
We discuss the solution of the fault detection problem in presence of parametric uncertainties. The basic approach is an extension of the nullspace method for constant systems to the case of linear parameter varying (LPV) models.
