Testing Independence of Covariates and Errors in Non‐parametric Regression [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, 2017
AbstractConsider a non‐parametric regression modelY=m(X)+ϵ, wheremis an unknown regression function,Yis a real‐valued response variable,Xis a real covariate, andϵis the error term. In this article, we extend the usual tests for homoscedasticity by developing consistent tests for independence betweenXandϵ.

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Smoothing migration intensities with P-TOPALS

open access: yesDemographic Research, 2020
Background: Age-specific migration intensities often display irregularities that need to be removed by graduation, but two current methods for doing so, parametric model migration schedules and non-parametric kernel regression, have their limitations ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Complexity-Regularized Regression for Serially-Correlated Residuals with Applications to Stock Market Data

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
A popular approach in the investigation of the short-term behavior of a non-stationary time series is to assume that the time series decomposes additively into a long-term trend and short-term fluctuations.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Non Asymptotic Sharp Oracle Inequalities for the Improved Model Selection Procedures for the Adaptive Nonparametric Signal Estimation Problem

open access: yesCommunications, 2018
In this paper, we consider the robust adaptive non parametric estimation problem for the periodic function observed with the Levy noises in continuous time.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Non-parametric genetic prediction of complex traits with latent Dirichlet process regression models

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Genetic prediction of complex traits with polygenic architecture has wide application from animal breeding to disease prevention. Here, Zeng and Zhou develop a non-parametric genetic prediction method based on latent Dirichlet Process regression models.
