SOME SMALL–SAMPLE NON–PROPORTIONAL HAZARDS RESULIS FOR THE KAPLAN–MEIER ESTIMATOR

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, 1985
AbstractCHEN, HOLLANDER and LANGBERG (1982) presented exact small–sample results for the KAPLAN–MEIER (1958) estimator under the proportional hazards model. We present simulation results for the same estimator for small samples in a number of cases where the hazard rates are not proportional.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Multilevel modeling of clustered grouped survival data of dental implant failures; a Bayesian approach

open access: yesJournal of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, 2017
Background & Aim: In clinical dental studies, each participant has usually several visits, and since the review and ongoing monitoring of the subjects are often expensive or even impossible, so people are examined periodically during regularly pre ...

Association between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio and cardiometabolic multimorbidity among middle-aged and older adults in China

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background The ratio of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (NHHR) served as a novel comprehensive lipid indicator.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Type 2 diabetes increases the risk of mortality and cardiovascular events in ischemic HFmrEF patients: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesDiabetology & Metabolic Syndrome
Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is known to worsen the prognosis of heart failure (HF), but its specific impact on patients with ischemic versus non-ischemic heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) remains unclear due to ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.
