Differential diagnosis of myocardial infarction and myopericarditis during a pandemic

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2021
Difficulties in the differential diagnosis of non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and acute myopericarditis during the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) pandemic appear to be a relevant and interesting issue. We present a clinical case of

Iron Deposition following Chronic Myocardial Infarction as a Substrate for Cardiac Electrical Anomalies: Initial Findings in a Canine Model

open access: yes, 2013
Purpose: Iron deposition has been shown to occur following myocardial infarction (MI). We investigated whether such focal iron deposition within chronic MI lead to electrical anomalies. Methods: Two groups of dogs (ex-vivo (n = 12) and in-vivo (n = 10))

The Lipid Paradox is present in ST-elevation but not in non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients: Insights from the Singapore Myocardial Infarction Registry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and triglyceride (TG) levels form the cornerstone approach of cardiovascular risk reduction, and a higher high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) is thought to be protective. However, in acute myocardial infarction (AMI)

Comparative characterization of inflammatory profile and oral microbiome according to an inflammation-based risk score in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2023
Ischemic heart disease considers the myocardial infarction (MI), either non-ST-segment elevation (non-STEMI) or ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI); this represents the main cause of mortality in Mexican population.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Novel Insights Into the Effects of Interleukin 6 Antagonism in Non–ST‐Segment–Elevation Myocardial Infarction Employing the SOMAscan Proteomics Platform

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background Interleukin 6 concentration is associated with myocardial injury, heart failure, and mortality after myocardial infarction. In the Norwegian tocilizumab non–ST‐segment–elevation myocardial infarction trial, the first randomized trial of ...
