Vibrational properties of inclusion complexes: the case of indomethacin-cyclodextrin

open access: yes, 2006
Vibrational properties of inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins are studied by means of Raman spectroscopy and numerical simulation. In particular, Raman spectra of the non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin undergo notable changes in the ...

Developing a complex intervention to improve prescribing safety in primary care:mixed methods feasibility and optimisation pilot study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Objectives (A) To measure the extent to which different candidate outcome measures identified high-risk prescribing that is potentially changeable by the data-driven quality improvement in primary care (DQIP) intervention.(B) To explore the value of ...

Non-Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Research in Science, Communication and Technology, 2022
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, are among the most often prescribed pain relievers. NSAIDs are a highly successful medicine class for pain and inflammation, but they are also known to cause gastrointestinal bleeding, cardiovascular side effects, and NSAID-induced nephrotoxicity.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Etoricoxib Coated Tablets: Bioequivalence Assessment between Two Formulations Administered under Fasting Conditions

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2023
Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with high selectivity for cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), exerting a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect with fewer adverse events when compared to COX-1 inhibitors.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Potential Strategies in the Prevention of Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs-Associated Adverse Effects in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2020
With the increasing use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), the incidence of lower gastrointestinal (GI) complications is expected to increase.

A pharmacokinetic comparison of three pharmaceutical formulations of nimesulide in healthy volunteers [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2005
Background/Aim. Switching the patient from one pharmaceutical formulation of the same drug to another, may lead to therapeutic inadequancy in some cases. To minimize the risk, careful pharmacokinetic studies are desired in the pre-registration period and

Transcriptomic effects of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Ibuprofen in the marine bivalve Mytilus galloprovincialis Lam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The transcriptomic effects of Ibuprofen (IBU) in the digestive gland tissue of Mytilus galloprovincialis Lam. specimens exposed at low environmental concentrations (250 ng L-1) are presented. Using a 1.7 K feature cDNA microarray along with linear models
