EAACI/ENDA Position Paper: Diagnosis and management of hypersensitivity reactions to non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in children and adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Allergy and Immunology, 2018
Non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used in the pediatric population as antipyretics/analgesics and anti‐inflammatory medications.

Efficiency of the combination of physical therapy modalities with topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment of pain in rheumatology

open access: yesМедицина болю, 2018
Pain is the most common syndrome in rheumatology. NSAIDs are often used in its treatment. But they have limitations associated with side effects. An advantage of topical drugs and physical factors (electrophoresis, phonophoresis) combination is the use ...

Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid Inhibits Nuclear Factor Kappa B Signaling in Gastric Epithelial Cells and Ameliorates Gastric Mucosal Damage in Mice

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Gastroenterology, 2022
Background/Aims: Previous studies have reported the protective effects of tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA) on gastric epithelial cells in some animal models, but the precise mechanisms are unclear.

Prediction of aromatase inhibitory activity using the efficient linear method (ELM) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Aromatase inhibition is an effective treatment strategy for breast cancer. Currently, several in silico methods have been developed for the prediction of aromatase inhibitors (AIs) using artificial neural network (ANN) or support vector machine (SVM). In

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Cardio-renal safety of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

open access: yesJournal of Toxicological Sciences, 2019
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are among the most widely used therapeutic class in clinical medicine. These are sub-divided based on their selectivity for inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) isoforms (COX-1 and COX-2) into: (1) non ...

Case of a 35‐Year‐Old Man With Pain With Sneezing and Leg Weakness Causing Collapse

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This case details a 35‐year‐old man with no past medical history who presents with acute paraparesis and urinary retention in the setting of progressive paresthesias and weakness of his lower and upper extremities over several months. He was found to have longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis involving the cervical to mid‐thoracic cord ...
