The vascularity of atrophic non-unions

The objective of this study was to assess the vascularity of atrophic non-unions using an experimental animal model. Twenty skeletally mature female rabbits were randomly divided into control and experimental groups that were killed 1, 8, or 16 weeks after surgery.

The presentation of scaphoid non-union

A retrospective study of 30 patients presenting with scaphoid non-union was performed. The results showed that eight had been treated in plaster for a mean of 6 weeks and discharged from follow-up. Talar malunions can cause significant morbidity in the form of hindfoot deformity, pain, and gait abnormalities. Malunion and nonunion may coexist, making treatment more challenging. Reconstruction is feasible in cases where the talar dome cartilage is intact, avascular necrosis is minimal or partial, and no infection.
