The transformer gene controls sexual development in Drosophila suzukii
The transformer gene plays a key role in the genetic pathway for sexual development in Drosophila suzukii Abstract The genetic network of sex determination in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster was investigated in great detail. Such knowledge not only advances our understanding of the evolution and regulation of sexual dimorphism in insects ...

Hypercontractivity and asymptotic behaviour in nonautonomous Kolmogorov equations [PDF]
We consider a class of nonautonomous second order parabolic equations with unbounded coefficients defined in $I\times\R^d$, where $I$ is a right-halfline.

Multiple front and pulse solutions in spatially periodic systems
Abstract In this paper, we develop a comprehensive mathematical toolbox for the construction and spectral stability analysis of stationary multiple front and pulse solutions to general semilinear evolution problems on the real line with spatially periodic coefficients.

Shadowing property for nonautonomous dynamical systems
A new approach based on the analysis of the influence of a single perturbation is proposed as a test for the shadowing property for a broad class of dynamical systems (in particular, non-autonomous) under a variety of perturbations. Applications for several interesting cases are considered in detail.

C∞‐Structures for Liénard Equations and New Exact Solutions to a Class of Klein–Gordon Equations
ABSTRACT Liénard equations are analyzed using the recent theory of 𝒞∞‐structures. For each Liénard equation, a 𝒞∞‐structure is determined by using a Lie point symmetry and a 𝒞∞‐symmetry. Based on this approach, a novel method for integrating these equations is proposed, which consists in solving sequentially two completely integrable Pfaffian equations.

Pullback attractors for a singularly nonautonomous plate equation
We consider the family of singularly nonautonomous plate equations with structural damping $$ u_{tt} + a(t,x)u_t - Delta u_t + (-Delta)^2 u + lambda u = f(u), $$ in a bounded domain $Omega subset mathbb{R}^n$, with Navier boundary conditions. When

Mimicking Life: Autonomous Oscillating Artificial Cilia Driven by Chemical Power
The synthesis and motion analysis of chemically actuated, individually autonomous artificial cilia are presented. Driven by an internal chemical reaction, the self‐driven individual cilia require no external stimuli. They undergo periodic oscillatory motion with a 3D beat pattern and exhibit chemotactic shifts, reminiscent of biological systems.

Transposon Ecology and the Octopus Genome
Transposable elements (TEs) are mobile strands of DNA prevalent in octopus genomes. TE activity in the octopus brain might reflect an organism‐beneficial role in cognition; or could be a deleterious byproduct of TE parasitism. Viewing TEs from a genome‐ecology perspective generates novel predictions about differential expression levels across “genomic ...

Permanence and Stable Periodic Solution for a Discrete Competitive System with Multidelays
The permanence and the existence of periodic solution for a discrete nonautonomous competitive system with multidelays are considered. Also the stability of the periodic solution is discussed.

Multistability in Horizontal Platform System with and without Time Delays
Chaotic behavior and bifurcation analysis of horizontal platform systems (HPS) have been investigated widely by many researchers. However, the multistable features of such systems have not been investigated, and hence we identified the multistable ...
