open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, 2016
AbstractObjectiveThe objective of the study is to report the performance of noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in twin pregnancies after the treatment of assisted reproductive technology (ART).MethodIn two years period, 565 pregnant women with ART twin pregnancies were prospectively tested by NIPT for screening for trisomy 21 (T21), 18 (T18), and 13 ...

Noninvasive prenatal testing and maternal obesity: A review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia Et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 2020
Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has become a popular screening test for the most common fetal aneuploidies. The performance of NIPT is affected by several factors including maternal obesity, which results in a greater rate of no-calls for obese ...

Detection of Maternal Malignancy after Abnormal Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)

Blood, 2023
Introduction: Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is routinely used to screen for fetal aneuploidies in chromosomes 13, 18 and 21. NIPT uses NGS based methods to detect fetal cfDNA in maternal circulation. In 2016, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommended offering NIPT testing for all pregnant patients ...

Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT): Current Status

2020
The concept of circulating fetal cells in the mother was first discussed by a German pathologist, Georg Schmorl, who identified fetal trophoblasts in lungs of eclamptic women on autopsy in 1893 [1]. After this suggestion there was a hiatus of nearly 100 years before any development could be made in the field.

Overview of Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) for the Detection of Fetal Chromosome Abnormalities; Differences in Laboratory Methods and Scope of Testing

Clinical Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2023
Although nearly all noninvasive prenatal testing is currently based on analyzing circulating maternal cell-free DNA, the technical methods usedvary considerably. We review the different methods. Based on validation trials and clinical experience, there are mostly relatively small differences in screening performance for trisomies 21, 18, and 13 in ...

Decision outcomes in women offered noninvasive prenatal test (NIPT) for positive Down screening results

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2017
In this first Asian study, the decision outcomes (decision conflict, decision regret, and anxiety) of 262 pregnant women offered noninvasive prenatal test (NIPT) for high-risk Down screening results were assessed. Decision conflict was experienced by 3.5% and level of decisional regret low (mean score 15.7, 95%CI 13.2-18.3).
