CSE‐Derived Hydrogen Sulfide Safeguards Vascular Iron Homeostasis by Coupling Ferritin Buffering to Vasoprotection

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 20, 31 October 2025.
With iron overload, wild‐type (CSE+/+) mice upregulate their CSE and ferritin expression, limiting oxidative stress and maintaining vascular health. In contrast, CSE‐deficient (CSE−/−) mice fail to induce ferritin, leading to elevated oxidative stress, vascular remodeling, and hypertension.
