An improved adaptive fuzzy backstepping control for nonlinear mechanical systems with mismatched uncertainties

open access: yesAutomatika, 2019
When the nonlinear mechanical system has mismatched uncertainties, it is difficult to design control algorithm to achieve high precision trajectory tracking control.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Constructing new nonlinear evolution equations with supersymmetry

open access: yes, 2017
The factorisation method commonly used in linear supersymmetric quantum mechanics is extended, such that it can be applied to nonlinear quantum mechanical systems.

Nonlinear DNA dynamics: Nonlinearity versus dispersion [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Mathematics and Computation, 2013
In the present paper we study the impact of dispersion and nonlinearity on DNA dynamics. We rely on the helicoidal Peyrard-Bishop model and use the fact that nonlinear DNA dynamics represents an interplay between nonlinearity and dispersion. We state that a dispersion coefficient and a coefficient of nonlinearity, existing in nonlinear Schr dinger ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Dynamical Networks Modelling Applied to Low Voltage Lines with Nonlinear Filters

open access: yesApplied System Innovation, 2020
The nonlinear dynamical behaviour of a network that is submitted to disturbances is the starting point of this work, where we consider a low voltage line (the network) with nonlinear varistor filters responding, dynamically, to those disturbances ...

Nonlinear guided waves and spatial solitons in a periodic layered medium

open access: yes, 2001
We overview the properties of nonlinear guided waves and (bright and dark) spatial optical solitons in a periodic medium created by a sequence of linear and nonlinear layers.

Nonlinear voltage dependence of shot noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The current noise in a multi-probe mesoscopic conductor can have a nonlinear dependence on the strength of driving bias voltage. This paper presents a theoretical formulation for the nonlinear noise spectra.

Nonlinear Absorptions

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1993
Let \(A\) be an \(m\)-completely accretive operator in \(L^ 1(\Omega)\), where \((\Omega,{\mathcal B},\mu)\) is a \(\sigma\)-finite measure space. Let \(j: \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\to [0,\infty]\) be measurable in \(x\in\Omega\), convex and lower semicontinuous in \(r\in\mathbb{R}\), with \(j(x,0)=0\).
