Nonlinear Absorption and Nonlinear Refraction of Self-Assembled Porphyrins
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006Nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption of self-assembled porphyrins in the nanosecond and picosecond regimes were studied at 532 nm by the Z-scan technique. First, a marked difference in nonlinear refraction was observed between self-assembled zinc porphyrins and free base porphyrins; however, the effects of self-assembly and metallization on ...

Resonant Nonlinear Absorption in Zn-Phthalocyanines
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008In this work, we investigate the nonlinear absorption dynamics of Zn phthalocyanine in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). We used single pulse and pulse train Z-scan techniques to determine the dynamics and absorption cross-sections of singlet and triplet states at 532 nm. The excited singlet state absorption cross-section was determined to be 3.2 times higher

Nonlinear absorption of intense microwave pulses
Physical Review Letters, 1987Free-electron lasers in the electron cyclotron frequency range have been proposed as an efficient means of heating and driving current in tokamak plasmas. The proposed free-electron laser will have short pulses (approx. =5 x 10/sup -8/ sec) with a peak power of (4--8) x 10Z W and electric fields within the plasma in the range 10V--10W V/cm.

Nonlinear refraction at the absorption edge in InAs
Optics Letters, 1984The results of measurements of nonlinear refraction at the absorption edge in InAs between 68 and 90 K taken with an HF laser are compared with those of a band-gap resonant model in which the contribution of the light-hole band is included and found to account for more than 40% of the observed nonlinear refraction.

Nonlinear Absorption Dynamics in Tetrapyridyl Metalloporphyrins
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005Nonlinear absorption dynamics of Zn(2+), Cu(2+), and Ni(2+) tetrapyridyl porphyrins in chloroform/methanol solutions were investigated at 532 nm with the Z-scan technique. Additional techniques such as UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and time-resolved fluorescence were used to obtain parameters that are important for the analysis of the population ...

Nonlinear Absorption and Nonlinear Refraction Studies in MEBBA
Topical Meeting on Ultrafast Phenomena, 1984In this paper we report measurements of nonlinear absorption and optical self-action (self-focusing) in 4-methyl benzylidene 4'-n-butylaniline (MEBBA) with picosecond pulses at 0.53 μm and 1.06 μm. P2, the second critical power for self-focusing [1], was measured as a function of pulsewidth (25 to 200 psec) and polarization state at 0.53 and 1.06 μm ...

Nonlinear Refraction and Nonlinear Absorption in InAs
1984We report here experimental measurements taken with an HF laser of a large nonlinear index of refraction (n2 = 4.5 ± 2.0 × 10-5 cm2/W) and associated nonlinear absorption near the bandgap in InAs between 6°K and 100°K. These results are shown to be consistent with the bandgap resonant model used to explain the nonlinearities seen in InSb and HgCdTe ...

Nonlinearity of amoxicillin absorption kinetics in human
European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1992Specialised gastrointestinal absorption of amoxicillin has been suggested in man and has been demonstrated in animals. In order to study the rate and extent of amoxicillin absorption, six healthy subjects were given 500 mg IV and two oral doses (500 mg and 3 g as a suspension).

Nonlinear absorption in direct-gap semiconductors
Applied Optics, 1975Nonlinear absorption coefficients have been calculated for certain direct-bandgap semiconductors at 0.694-microm, 1.06-microm, 1.318-microm, and 10.6-microm wavelengths and compared with experimental results. The second- order perturbation theories of Braunstein and Basov yield underestimates and overestimates, respectively, of the nonlinear absorption

Nonlinear absorption properties of silicene nanosheets
Nanotechnology, 2018As the cousins of graphene, i.e. same group IVA element, the nonlinear absorption (NLA) properties of silicene nanosheets were rarely studied. In this paper, we successfully exfoliated the two-dimensional silicene nanosheets from bulk silicon crystal using liquid phase exfoliation method.
