Nonlinear absorption in organometallic materials
SPIE Proceedings, 2006We report results of two ongoing investigations that seek to characterize the photophysics of organometallic complexes under one- and two-photon excitation. In the first line of investigation we explore the properties of the triplet state in a complex that contains four individual platinum-acetylide chromophores linked via a tetraphenylmethane unit.

Hybrid materials for nonlinear absorption
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Alkynyl platinum derivatives and thiacalixarenes were trapped in solid transparent matrices prepared by the sol-gel process. By using functionalyzed silicon alkoxides, molecular species were grafted to the gel matrix giving a high doping concentration and chemically stable materials.

Nonlinear Interactions of Light and Matter Without Absorption
2001Nonlinear effects in optics offer the possibility of generating or manipulating light in almost any manner. The laser itself, producing light not available in nature, is the most obvious example. Therefore nonlinear interactions are the basis of photonics.
