Nonlinear microwave absorption in Ba1−xKxBiO3
Physica C: Superconductivity, 1994Nonlinear, field-modulated, direct microwave absorption (FMMA) was observed in copper-free Ba1-xKxBiO3 powder samples. The high-field, low-temperature results were compared to previous measurements of YBa CuO and BiSrCaCuO. The microwave wave determined critical field μ0H* = 0.7 μT and depinning current density J* c ≈ 1 × 107 A/m2 were obtained from ...

Nonclassical Symmetries for Nonlinear Diffusion and Absorption
Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1995Nonclassical symmetry methods are used to study the nonlinear diffusion equation with a nonlinear source. In particular, exponential and power law diffusivities are examined and we obtain mathematical forms of the source term which permit nonclassical symmetry reductions.

Nonlinear PML for absorption of nonlinear electromagnetic waves
1997 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2002Nonlinear time-domain numerical modeling requires the development of absorbing boundary conditions to effectively absorb the nonlinear electromagnetic waves. In this paper, based on Berenger's PML (1994), the nonlinear perfectly matched layer (nPML) absorbing condition is developed and implemented in the recently proposed TLM-based FDTD method ...

Nonlinear-optical energy regulation by nonlinear refraction and absorption in silicon
Optics Letters, 1984We demonstrate a new silicon picosecond nonlinear-optical energy regulator for 1-microm radiation. The device has a high transmission for low input energies and a low transmission for high input energies and clamps the output at a constant value. We attribute this optical Zener action to nonlinear refraction and absorption induced in the silicon by the

Nonlinear absorption in pyran dyes
Optical Memory and Neural Networks, 2009The paper represents the results of nonlinear absorption study for solutions of deciaminomethylenepyran dyes DCM 627 and DCM-684 (yuloidine) at wavelength of 532 nm with 350 ps pulse duration obtained with the use of z-scan technique. It is shown that the induced absorption detected is due to two-photon absorption. Nonlinear and two-photon coefficients

Nonlinear absorption in bifluorene derivatives
SPIE Proceedings, 2004We report here the nonlinear absorption of bifluorene derivatives induced by two-photon absorption (TPA), in order to study the effect of the dimension of the molecule on these properties. Measurements were performed in chloroform between 450 and 650 nm for nanosecond time duration pulses.

Nonlinear absorption of sound in superconductors
Soviet Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 1976The experimental results are given of investigations of nonlinear effects in the absorption of sound in superconductors. The analysis carried out shows that the data obtained cannot be explained without taking into consideration the concept of increase of the energy gap of the superconductor under the action of high-powered ultrasonic pumping.

Nonlinear Absorption in Organic Dyes
MRS Proceedings, 1994AbstractThe non-linear optical properties of chloro-aluminium phthalocyanine and 1,3,3,1′,3′,3′- hexamethylindotricarbocyanine have been studied as model systems using z-scan and time resolved experimental techniques. Excited state lifetimes and absorption cross sections have been measured as well as the spectral response of the induced absorption ...

Nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption of various media
Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics, 2005A review of studies of the nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption of semiconductors, fullerenes, dyes, metals, crystals, and liquids (bulk samples, suspensions, solutions, embedded nanoparticles, and thin films) is presented. Some of these media are analysed as optical limiters of intense laser radiation.
