Weak solutions for the p-Laplacian with a nonlinear boundary condition at resonance

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2003
We study the existence of weak solutions to the equation $$ Delta_p u = |u|^{p-2} u+f(x,u) $$ with the nonlinear boundary condition $$ | abla u|^{p-2} frac{partial u}{partial u} = lambda |u|^{p-2} u -h(x,u),.

Generalized quasilinearization method for nonlinear boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2010
The quasilinearization method coupled with the method of upper and lower solutions is used for a class of nonlinear boundary value problems with integral boundary conditions. We obtain some less restrictive sufficient conditions under which corresponding

Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Reaction-diffusion waves with nonlinear boundary conditions

open access: yesNetworks & Heterogeneous Media, 2013
A reaction-di usion equation with nonlinear boundary condition is considered in a two-dimensional in nite strip. Existence of waves in the bistable case is proved by the Leray-Schauder method.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Elliptic Equations and systems With Nonlinear Boundary Conditions

open access: yes, 2015
This dissertation presents some results on the solvability of second order elliptic equations with nonlinear boundary conditions at resonance, in which the nonlinear boundary conditions perturbation is not necessarily required to satisfy Landesman- Lazer

Existence of solutions to Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
We study the solvability of Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems for $x''=f(t,x,x'), t\in(0,1)$. The nonlinearity can be defined on a bounded set and is required to be continuous on its subset.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Forced Vibration of Continuous System With Nonlinear Boundary Conditions

open access: yes, 1978
This paper deals with the nonlinear vibration problem concerning mechanical equipment-piping systems in nuclear power plants and others. An analytical method by approximate solutions is introduced for these systems as a continuous system with nonlinear ...

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.
