An adaptive nonlinear prefilter for compensation of distortion in nonlinear systems

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1998
This article concerns the linearization of a nonlinear system by connecting a nonlinear Volterra prefilter tandemly with the nonlinear system and by adaptively adjusting the coefficients of the prefilter. "A nonlinear filtered-x LMS algorithm" for updating the coefficients of a nonlinear prefilter, as proposed, is shown to be viewed as an extension of ...

Nonlinear independent component analysis with minimal nonlinear distortion

Proceedings of the 24th international conference on Machine learning, 2007
Nonlinear ICA may not result in nonlinear blind source separation, since solutions to nonlinear ICA are highly non-unique. In practice, the nonlinearity in the data generation procedure is usually not strong. Thus it is reasonable to select the solution with the mixing procedure close to linear. In this paper we propose to solve nonlinear ICA with the "

Compensating out-of-band nonlinear distortions

2010 IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2010
In this paper a method is proposed to compensate for the nonlinear distortions present in the input signal of a DUT which results in a source-pull free level of the output nonlinear distortions. This allows to determine an accurate adjacent co-channel power ratio (ACPR).

Nonlinear Distortion in Modern Hearing Aids

Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1967
Nonlinear distortion was investigated in 367 new hearing aids. Among the first group of instruments examined, the level of harmonic distortion present at 500, 700, and 900 Hz was studied, together with the frequency and extent of maximum distortion. Ear-level instruments generally yielded lower distortion values than did body types.

Identification of linear systems in the presence of nonlinear distortions

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2001
This paper treats the identification of linear systems in the presence of nonlinear distortions. It extends the theory developed for measurement setups where the input is exactly known and the output is observed with errors (output error framework) to measurement setups where both the input and output are observed with errors (errors-in-variables ...

Harmonic Bandpass Distortion of a Chebyshev Nonlinearity

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1976
Harmonic distortion imparted to the sidebands of an amplitude-modulated carrier by a system described by a Chebyshev series is evaluated. Sideband distortion increases with modulation depth but decreases with low carrier level, when even-harmonic contributions disappear.

Nonlinear filter for inversion of channel distortion

ICASSP '78. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
The ill-posed nature of direct deconvolution has prevented its use in applications such as channel equalization or inversion of transducer distortion. In this paper we discuss the use of a recursive nonlinear filter. The design of the proposed filter is accomplished in two stages.

Nonlinear distortion reduction by complementary distortion

IRE Transactions on Audio, 1959
Nonlinear distortion produced in a given circuit can be reduced by pre- or postdistorting the signal applied to or from the circuit. Such complementary distortion cannot reduce the original distortion to zero in practice because of distortion of distortion, but it can result in greatly reduced output distortion over a limited amplitude range.

Feedback and nonlinear distortion

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1981
The effect of linear negative feedback on the normalized coefficients of a power series is evaluated. For large loop gain, desensitization tends to proceed with the power of the particular closed-loop term.
