Nonlinear distortions of rotating chiral solitons

Physical Review D, 1988
We show that the rotation in isospace of a chiral soliton induces nonlinear distortions of the chiral field leading to a band cutoff phenomenon. In models in which quarks are coupled to the chiral field, this band cutoff is caused by the alignment of the quark isospins about the rotation axis, which induces a corresponding change in the symmetry of the

Adversarial autoencoder for reducing nonlinear distortion

2018 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC), 2018
A novel post-filtering method using generative adversarial networks (GANs) is proposed to correct the effect of a nonlinear distortion caused by time-frequency (TF) masking. TF masking is a powerful framework for attenuating interfering sounds, but it can yield an unpleasant distortion of speech (e.g., a musical noise).

Advanced Digital Nonlinear Distortion Compensation

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2015
We review the recent progresses on the nonlinear perturbation pre-distortion including the modified nonlinear model for performance improvement and nonlinear terms combination for complexity reduction. With Nyquist nonlinear model, the performance shows even more improvement.

Nonlinear distortion modulating signals in quantization

2017 IEEE East-West Design & Test Symposium (EWDTS), 2017
The work is devoted to the quantization effects on nonlinear distortions of modulated signals. A nonlinear model of the quantization process is used. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of quantization of signals with harmonic amplitude and angular modulation on the nonlinear distortion of modulating signals for an arbitrary number ...

Shape restoration of nonlinear distorted images

Proceedings of the 12th IAPR International Conference on Pattern Recognition (Cat. No.94CH3440-5), 2002
Image shape restoration based on mathematical transformation is a successful approach to nonlinear distortions in computer vision, robot vision and pattern recognition. The key of this process is to find the distortion function and its inverse function. Usually, the distortion function is unknown or unclear.

Sensitivity Analysis of Nonlinear Behavior with Distorted Probability

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2013
In this paper, we propose a sensitivity‐based analysis to study the nonlinear behavior under nonexpected utility with probability distortions (or “distorted utility” for short). We first discover the “monolinearity” of distorted utility, which means that after properly changing the underlying probability measure, distorted utility becomes locally ...

A new approach on nonlinearity distortion

5th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Service. TELSIKS 2001. Proceedings of Papers (Cat. No.01EX517), 2002
In this paper a new approach on nonlinearity distortion in amplifiers is given. For an amplifier is possible to establish a relationship between the output power at 1 dB compression and third order interception point for the classical approximation and for a new type of approximation based on modulus.

Detection of nonlinear distortion in audio signals

IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 2002
Nonlinear distortion of a signal passing through a system may be caused by a number of factors. One of those factors, a limiter like transfer function, is considered. The nonlinear distortion causes a change in the probability density function (PDF) of the signal.

The nonlinear distortion of directional loudspeaker

2008 International Conference on Audio, Language and Image Processing, 2008
A directional audible sound could be generated from the nonlinear interaction of ultrasound in the propagation medium. The demodulated audible signal is proportional to the second time derivative of the square of the ultrasound envelope, described in Berktaypsilas Far-field solution, which is nonlinear to the process of sound reproduction.

Signal Distortion in Nonlinear Feedback Systems

Bell System Technical Journal, 1963
This paper reports on some properties of the solutions to the functional equation $s_{2}(t) = \varphi[{\bf C}s_{2}(t) + s_{1}(t)],$ where ϕ is a nonlinear function, the operator C is a convolution, and s 1 is a known function belonging to a prescribed Banach space.
