Analytical Approximate Solutions for the Cubic-Quintic Duffing Oscillator in Terms of Elementary Functions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
Accurate approximate closed-form solutions for the cubic-quintic Duffing oscillator are obtained in terms of elementary functions. To do this, we use the previous results obtained using a cubication method in which the restoring force is expanded in ...

Groundwater Rise Sustains the World's Largest Alpine Water System Under Global Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Shallow groundwater depth (SGWD) across the non‐permafrost plains of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau decreased at averagely 0.02 m year−1, adding 31.44 Gt of freshwater storage from 2000 to 2020 and sustaining ∼53 500 km2 of alpine ecosystems. A vadose‐zone capacity of 426.6 Gt reveals these aquifers as promising reservoirs, highlighting groundwater's ...

Engineering Morphological Anisotropy to Control the In Vivo Transport Dynamics, Clearance, and Biodistribution of Silica Nanocarriers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Morphological anisotropy directs the in vivo transport under physiological flow and clearance of silica nanocarriers. Increasing anisotropy reduces cellular uptake, suppresses hepatic and splenic sequestration, and prolongs systemic circulation by steering particles toward the central flow core.

Explicit solutions of some equations and systems of mathematical physics

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
This paper deals at first with a fully integrable evolution system of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) which is a generalization of the classical Heisenberg ferromagnet equation.

Domain Identification for a Nonlinear Elliptic Equation

open access: yesZeitschrift für Analysis und ihre Anwendungen, 1998
It is proposed to identify the domain \Omega \in \mathbb R^n of a nonlinear elliptic equation subject to given Cauchy data on part of the known outer boundary \Gamma

Nonlinear elliptic equations with lower-order terms

open access: yesDifferential and Integral Equations, 2001
We prove regularity results for solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations containing a term which grows as $ |u|^\sigma$, $ \sigma>0$, and satisfies a "sign condition." The source term is supposed to be in $ L^1$.

Metasurface‐Enabled Helical Wavefront Fingerprint Metrology for Quantitative Retrieval of Liquid Optical Constants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A metasurface‐enabled helical wavefront fingerprint (MHWF) paradigm is proposed for quantitative and specific retrieval of a liquid medium's refractive index and extinction coefficient. The liquid's complex dielectric response governs the wavefront evolution of the metasurface‐generated focused vortex beam, forming a distinctive three‐dimensional ...

Distinct Molten‐Globule Conformations in an Interacting Protein Domain Resolved by 19F NMR of Fluoroproline Residues

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Modifying the conformational ensemble of “molten‐globule” protein by the site‐specific incorporation of stereoisomeric 4‐fluoroproline residues modulated its binding affinity and aggregation behavior. 19F NMR spectroscopy enabled the detection of key interactions responsible for structural and dynamic changes. ABSTRACT Recently, the application of deep

Dirichlet problems for semilinear elliptic equations with a fast growth coefficient on unbounded domains

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2005
When an unbounded domain is inside a slab, existence of a positive solution is proved for the Dirichlet problem of a class of semilinear elliptic equations that are similar either to the singular Emden-Fowler equation or a sublinear elliptic equation ...

NONLINEAR ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS WITH SINGULAR REACTION

open access: yesOsaka Journal of Mathematics, 2016
We study a nonlinear elliptic equation with a singular term and a continuous perturbation. We look for positive solutions. We prove three multiplicity theorems producing at least two positive solutions. The first multiplicity theorem concerns equations driven by a nonhomogeneous in general differential operator.
