Relationship between nonlinear free vibration behavior and nonlinear forced vibration behavior of viscoelastic plates

Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2023
In this paper, the relationship between nonlinear free vibration behavior and nonlinear forced vibration behavior of viscoelastic plates is studied based on Reddy higher-order shear deformation theory and von Kármán geometric nonlinearity assumption. Kelvin-Voigt viscoelastic model is adopted to describe the viscoelasticity of the plate.

On the Nonlinear Vibrations of Free-Free Beams

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1971
A nonlinear partial differential equation which describes the natural free-free vibrations of beamlike structures is derived, and then solved approximately by reduction to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation through the use of the Duffing and Ritz-Kantorovich methods.

Analysis of nonlinear free vibrations of suspension bridges

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1995
Summary: Nonlinear free vibrations of suspension bridges with a bisymmetrical stiffening girder are investigated by using the method of multiple scales in two cases: when a two-to-one or one-to-one internal resonance takes place. The influence of the initial conditions on the vibrational processes' character is shown. Three types of the energy-exchange

Nonlinear Free Flexural Vibration of Oval Rings

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2003
In this article, the nonlinear free vibration characteristics of isotropic oval rings are analyzed using a shear flexible cubic B-spline curved beam element. The amplitude-frequency relationships are estimated from the response history. The participation of various modes in the total response is highlighted.

Nonlinear free vibrations of composite plates

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1994
Abstract The evolution of the Natural Mode Method (NMM) for finite element analysis of complex composite structures continues in the present study by applying its principles and formulating the kinematically consistent matrix of a model three-node multilayered triangular element.

Nonlinear transverse free vibrations of piles

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2008
The nonlinear partial differential equation governing the nonlinear transverse vibration of pile was derived under the assumption of that both the materials of pile and soil obey nonlinear elastic and linear viscoelastic constitutive relations. The approximate expressions of the nth-order main frequency and the response of the nonlinear vibration of ...

On the instability of nonlinear vibrations of free-free beams

Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1975
It is the purpose of this note to discuss the nonexistence of global solutions to a nonlinear partial differential equation which governs the motion of a free-free beam. In [1] it was shown, via reduction to an ordinary differential equation that higher modes are not possible. We give a fairly simple criterion for the nonexistence of solutions directly

Nonlinear free bending vibrations of plates

Computers & Structures, 1985
A general solution for the Helmholtz differential equations is obtained in the complex domain and applied to the nonlinear, free, bending vibrations of plates. The analysis is based on the decoupled nonlinear von Kármán field equations by Berger assumption for the large deformations of plates.
