The Pontryagin Maximum Principle for Nonlinear Optimal Control Problems with Infinite Horizon

Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2015
The famous proof of the Pontryagin maximum principle for control problems on a finite horizon bases on the needle variation technique, as well as the separability concept of cones created by disturbances of the trajectories.

A Nonlinear Finite Volume Scheme Preserving Maximum Principle for Diffusion Equations

Communications in Computational Physics, 2021
Summary: In this paper we propose a new nonlinear cell-centered finite volume scheme on general polygonal meshes for two dimensional anisotropic diffusion problems, which preserves discrete maximum principle (DMP). The scheme is based on the so-called diamond scheme with a nonlinear treatment on its tangential flux to obtain a local maximum principle ...

Sliding Window Iterative Identification for Nonlinear Closed‐Loop Systems Based on the Maximum Likelihood Principle

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control
The parameter estimation problem for the nonlinear closed‐loop systems with moving average noise is considered in this article. For purpose of overcoming the difficulty that the dynamic linear module and the static nonlinear module in nonlinear closed ...

The filtering‐based maximum likelihood iterative estimation algorithms for a special class of nonlinear systems with autoregressive moving average noise using the hierarchical identification principle

International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, 2019
For a special class of nonlinear systems (ie, bilinear systems) with autoregressive moving average noise, this paper gives the input‐output representation of the bilinear systems through eliminating the state variables in the model. Based on the obtained

The Maximum Principle and Controllability of Nonlinear Equations

SIAM Journal on Control, 1972
The main result proved is that a nonlinear control equation is controllable if a related linear equation is controllable. The result allows the set of control values to be discrete and it is not assumed that “small” values of the control are available. The methods used are closely related to the Pontryagin maximum principle.

The maximum principle, semicontinuity and nonlinear PDE's

29th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1990
Scalar, fully nonlinear, second-order partial differential equations arise in stochastic control and the theory of stochastic differential games. The proper notion of solution of these equations and associated questions of uniqueness of these solutions (subject perhaps to boundary conditions) have evolved in a striking way and have many applications in

Analytical Optimal Solution of Perimeter Traffic Flow Control Based on MFD Dynamics: A Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle Approach

IEEE transactions on intelligent transportation systems (Print), 2019
Perimeter traffic flow control, based on the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD), has been introduced for traffic control and congestion management in large-scale networks.

Maximum principles for nonlinear elliptic equations in unseparated variables

2011 International Conference on Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks (CECNet), 2011
This paper is devoted to a class of nonlinear elliptic equations posed by Schaefer in 1977. We obtain maximum principles for certain functions, which are defined on solutions of the elliptic equations in unseparated variables form. The principles may be used to deduce some bounds on important quantities in physical problems of interest.

Maximum Principle of a Class of Nonlinear PDE Systems

1989 American Control Conference, 1989
In Banach spaces with either L2 or L? type norm a generalized integral version of Maximum Principle for a class of nonlinear PDEs and a general cost functional is derived. The developed theory is applied to the design of a two-dimensional nonlinear hyperbolic system.
