First eigenvalue and maximum principle for fully nonlinear singular operators

open access: yesAdvances in Differential Equations, 2006
Through the Maximum principle we define the principal eigenvalue for a class of fully-nonlinear operators that are the non-variational equivalent of the p-Laplacian. We also obtain some a priori Holder estimates for non-negative solutions below that eigenvalue.

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

Positive solutions for $(p,2)$-equations with superlinear reaction and a concave boundary term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2020
We consider a nonlinear boundary value problem driven by the $(p,2)$-Laplacian, with a $(p-1)$-superlinear reaction and a parametric concave boundary term (a "concave-convex" problem).

Maximum Principles for Fourth Order Nonlinear Elliptic Equations with Applications

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática, 2014
Summary: The paper is devoted to prove maximum principles for a certain functionals defined for solution of the fourth order nonlinear elliptic equation. The maximum principle so obtained is used to prove the nonexistence of nontrivial solutions of the fourth order nonlinear elliptic equation with some zero boundary conditions. Hopf's maximum principle

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

The Existence of Positive Solution for Semilinear Elliptic Equations with Multiple an Inverse Square Potential and Hardy-Sobolev Critical Exponents

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2019
Via the concentration compactness principle, delicate energy estimates, the strong maximum principle, and the Mountain Pass lemma, the existence of positive solutions for a nonlinear PDE with multi-singular inverse square potentials and critical Sobolev ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Constant sign and nodal solutions for nonlinear Robin equations with locally defined source term

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2020
We consider a parametric Robin problem driven by a nonlinear, nonhomogeneous differential operator which includes as special cases the p-Laplacian and the (p,q)-Laplacian. The source term is parametric and only locally defined (that is, in a neighborhood

COMPUTING THE REACHABLE SET BOUNDARY FOR AN ABSTRACT CONTROL SYSTEM: REVISITED

open access: yesUral Mathematical Journal, 2023
A  control system can be treated as a mapping that maps a control to a trajectory (output) of the system. From this point of view, the reachable set, which consists of the ends of all trajectories at a given time, can be considered an image of the set of

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...
