C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Numerical Analysis of Time-Accurate Solution of Nonlinear Flow Models by Implicit Finite Differences

open access: yes, 2003
Implicit finite differences are often applied to solve flow models. A standard technique to solve these equations is Newton\u27s method. lf time step is too large although the difference equation could be computationally stable, Newton\u27s method may ...

Multibody-Based Input and State Observers Using Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The aim of this work is to explore the suitability of adaptive methods for state estimators based on multibody dynamics, which present severe non-linearities.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Net reproduction functions for nonlinear structured population models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The goal of this note is to present a general approach to define the net reproduction function for a large class of nonlinear physiologically structured population models.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

A partially linearized sigma point filter for latent state estimation in nonlinear time series models

open access: yes, 2010
A new technique for the latent state estimation of a wide class of nonlinear time series models is proposed. In particular, we develop a partially linearized sigma point filter in which random samples of possible state values are generated at the ...

Nonparametric nonlinear model predictive control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Model Predictive Control (MPC) has recently found wide acceptance in industrial applications, but its potential has been much impeded by linear models due to the lack of a similarly accepted nonlinear modeling or databased technique.

Comparing Machine Learning Models for Predicting Stomatal Conductance in 15 Urban Tree Species in Mexico City

open access: yesLand
Stomatal conductance (gS) is a key driver of urban tree transpiration and heat mitigation potential, but few studies compare machine learning models for predicting gS across multiple species in cities.

Nonlinear Dynamics for the Ising Model

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics
AbstractWe introduce and analyze a natural class of nonlinear dynamics for spin systems such as the Ising model. This class of dynamics is based on the framework of mass action kinetics, which models the evolution of systems of entities under pairwise interactions, and captures a number of important nonlinear models from various fields, including ...
